Tyler James Griffin
Tyler Griffin is the Small Groups Pastor at The King's Chapel and has been serving in ministry since his youth. Growing up in rural Wisconsin as the oldest of 11 kids, he started and led a ministry to unchurched children in his hometown, co-founded a youth magazine with a friend, and began preaching in his home church as a teenager. At age 19, Tyler attended Summit International School of Ministry in Pennsylvania (founded by David Wilkerson), followed by a 6 ½ month internship in Cork City, Ireland. Following graduation, he returned to Wisconsin where he served as a youth and young adult pastor for several years, during which time he met and married his wife, Lily. Lily grew up in Guatemala and had been a missionary in Panama for 8 years where they met while Tyler was in Panama on a short-term mission trip. Following their wedding, Lily joined Tyler in Wisconsin.
In 2010, the Lord led Tyler, Lily, and their firstborn son, Kaiden, to join a church-planting team in Baltimore, MD, to help found Freedom Church. Tyler was ordained as an Elder and eventually served as Executive Pastor. Their home was used for discipleship and small group ministry for many years. Throughout their time in Wisconsin and Baltimore, Tyler served as a Pastor, but also held jobs in construction, sales, and eventually business ownership as a means to support his growing family.
In 2017, Tyler and his family moved to Northern Virginia to build a new business, and in 2018, they joined the community at The King's Chapel. God led Tyler to step back from vocational ministry to focus on his family and build his business. In early 2020, Tyler and Lily led a mission team from TKC to Panama, and later that year, he was made a deacon in the church. At the start of 2023, Tyler felt God calling him back into volunteer pastoral ministry while still maintaining his business. He began assisting the pastoral team at TKC, and in early 2024, was installed as the Small Groups Pastor.
Tyler and Lily reside in Centreville, VA, with their three sons, Kaiden, Kyan, and Liam.
